Posting the Blind Bets: A Prerequisite Move Before Dealing Texas Holdem

Dealing Texas Holdem poker games is such an easy thing to do especially if things are done in an orderly and step-by-step manner. By not rushing things and carefully observing how things are really done, being a dealer of the game is as easy as ABC. Learning the different parts of the game where the blind bets and the different cards are to be dealt is a very important part of becoming good poker dealers.

People should not be intimidated by this long and arduous process, for once they get to know how the different things are done, they would soon find that dealing is not really a hard thing to do after all. Let's try to dissect the game and start with the very first stages of the Texas Holdem poker game.

The game is basically made up of four betting rounds. These are the preflop, the flop, the turn, and the river. But before any of these rounds are to be done, the different blinds bets should be posted first. Aside from the ante bets, the small and big blind bets make the Texas Holdem poker game much exciting and more productive to play. These bets increase the amount of money to be won by the different players from the pot.

The dealer button plays a very important role in determining the players who are about to put up the two blind bets. As this button represents the player who is about to serve as the dealer, the player seated at the left of the dealer would be the one to place the small blind. The value of this blind bet is half the actual value of the big blind. The big blind is then to be posted by the player who is at the immediate left of the small blind player.

The dealer must make sure that these bets are properly placed before the Texas Holdem poker game ensues. Aside from these two blinds and the antes, the rest of the poker table is not required to place bets. After all these important blind bets are posted, the dealer should give each participant a total of two cards each. These cards will be the only hole cards that each player would receive during the entire game. The rest would be community cards upon which all the players will share with one another.

In shedding out the two hole cards, dealers must remember that the first player to be dealt with the cards is the one who is directly seated at the left of the dealer. The cards will then be given to the remaining players in a clockwise motion. This is actually what takes place before the four betting rounds open. To avoid confusion, dealers must segregate neatly the used cards from the still unused cards.
